Orlando Theme Parks and Your Pet
Orlando, Florida is a great destination for people but what about those pets that come along? Good news. Some of the most popular attractions in Orlando also welcome your pets.
Walt Disney World in Florida is a popular destination for both pet and people. Kristin Krumpe, VP marketing for Best Friends Pet Care, the organization that runs the kennels at this popular theme park, says: “Many visitors prefer to check their pets into the centers because it gives them peace of mind knowing they are close by and they can look in on them at any time. For day-trippers, the consensus is that it’s better to let their dog enjoy the ride there and back with the family and be close by, rather than being left at home alone.”
Space is not an issue. Walt Disney World has five kennel locations situated at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, The Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Fort Wilderness. The cost is $15 per pet. Cats and dogs are welcome, as well as hamsters and gerbils.
Pet owners will need to make food arrangements at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and the Animal Kingdom facilities, which also offers extra walks and even an ice cream break for an additional charge. The trained staff will also handle any medications for a $2 fee. All the pet care facilities offer sleepover arrangements too.
“A day at a theme park is usually a long one because the parks stay open until midnight in the summer months, and we find that guests like to come back and check on their pets during that time and feed them a meal or some snacks,” says Krumpe.
Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida as well as the adjacent roller coaster park also have pet care facilities. The pet care area is located on the first level of the parking structure. The fee in this air-conditioned area is $10 a pet. While there is someone on duty to supervise, guests are required to take care of their pets personal needs.
Sea World in Orlando offers both inside and outside access. Pet owners must take charge of their pet’s food and exercise requirements. The fee is $8 a day per pet.
The pet care facility at the Kennedy Space Center is free. The pet area is indoors and kept cool with overhead fans. There is no personal supervision at the space center and both theme parks request that pet owners bring their own bedding, food and water with them.

Although I don’t travel with my cat, because I don’t want him getting lose and wandering off, but the Disney kennel sounds like a great idea and added value for their visitors. They won’t fell rushed to get home or back to the hotel the feed and relive the pet and they can stay in the park longer and spend even more money. A win win for all!
