Orlando, Florida on the Cheap

With the economy the way it is many visitors planning trips to Orlando, Florida are looking for discounts or other ways to save money. Here are some of the best ways to see Orlando and save a few bucks in the process.

As of this writing, visitors can book a vacation package for a two-night, three-day stay at one of Disney World’s moderate resorts. The Port Orleans Resort package includes two nights of lodging and three-day tickets with the park-hopper option for just $450 US.

You and your family can head to Orlando during the off-season when lines at the big attractions are shorter and the weather is cooler. The rates are usually lower from January to February; for a few weeks in April and May; mid-August through September; and between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Disney World website offers some great special offers. Magic Your Way is a new program that offers visitors several options. This site allows you to buy only what you want rather than a pre-packaged deal.

If you are Disney resort guests, Disney offers Extra Magic Hours to guests, which allows them to get into parks early or stay late on certain days.

Many of the places that you might stay in Orlando offer free transportation to the parks. Ask about this when you book your rooms. One example of this is the Disney program. Disney not only has complimentary transportation to and from the airport, but they also provide transportation between all their resorts and parks.

Another way to save money when vacationing in Orlando is to plan to use some of the lower-cost recreational activities that are all around town.

When staying at one of the Disney resorts, you can head to Design Quest and enjoy this amazing experience free of charge. Disney World’s water parks, such as Typhoon Lagoon, cost about half of what a theme-park ticket costs. That’s great news for a family on a budget.
