Lake Jessup
There’s a place called Lake Jessup that lies just 20 minutes from Orlando, in the heart of Seminole County. It’s a beautiful 100,000 year old lake that over 10,000 gators call home. How do so many gators fit in just one lake? Well, the lake comprises almost 10,000 acres and has a circumference of 28 miles; plenty of room for all those gators. In fact, no other lake in America can boast such a large population of gators, that’s why a ride on the lake is sure to guarantee being able to see one of these reptiles in it’s natural habitat.
The Black Hammock Airboat Adventure is a ride like none other. The Airboats are state-of-the-art airboats with 6, 16 and 20 passenger capacities, and all are U.S. Coast Guard licensed. The captains are also licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, and your safety is their number one priority.
The airboat ride lasts approximately 30 minutes, and along with the gators, you’ll get the chance to see wild boars, bobcats, turtles and a variety of wild birds, including the bald eagle. When the ride is over you can stop by for a bite to eat at The Black Hammock Restaurant.
Enjoy the tastes of catfish, gator bites as well as a number of other seafood favorites only Florida has to offer. Your airboat ride ticket will get you a 10% discount on your purchase. If you’re not in the mood for some grub, maybe you’d like to mosey on up to the bar at The Lazy Gator Bar for a cocktail to celebrate all the natural wonders you saw on your airboat ride.
The bar features two full -service bars with live entertainment on both Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday afternoons. Sit indoors or grab a seat outside and enjoy the breath-taking view of Lake Jessup.
