All About Orlando

Do you love being around the water? Can’t resist a walk along the shores of a beautiful lake? Then you need to come to Lake Eola Park, and spend the day on one of the most beautiful lakes in Orlando.

Lake Eola Park was established in 1888, from land that was donated to the City of Orlando. The lake itself is actually nothing more than a sinkhole, one of many in Florida. The park has seen many changes to its features and attractions since it was established.

It has been home to a zoo, a horse track, and it used to have a pier with a dance area that broadcasted music from a local radio station. The park consists of 43 acres; 23 of which are under water. Recognized as a local historical landmark is the Lake Eola Fountain, which underwent some major restorations in 1988. Today, Lake Eola is one of Orlando’s most popular places for both visitors and residents alike.

Hundreds of people come to Lake Eola Park everyday. They come to enjoy the breathtaking view, paddle their way around the lake or take a peaceful ride on a romantic gondola. The swans that make their home on the lake are beautiful and picturesque. There is also a children’s playground for the kids to romp around on, and the Walt Disney Amphitheatre too!
Take a seat on The Terrace, a quaint dinning establishment that offers a view of Orlando’s skyline like none other, or just sit for a while amid the beautiful brilliant flowers that compliment this parks captivating natural tapestry.

There are special events held at the park throughout the year including the much-anticipated Fireworks at the Fountain to celebrate the Fourth of July, and the annual Fiesta in the Park.

For two days visitors are welcomed to come on down and enjoy some live music, good food, and see the unique works of hundreds of artisans. There are even children’s activities to keep the little ones occupied.

Lake Eola Park is located at 195 N Rosalind Avenue, and is truly a diamond in the rough of Downtown Orlando.
