All About Orlando

We may be most familiar with our own holiday customs, but this holiday, why not experience the traditions and customs of other cultures? Traveling the globe experiencing a whole new world of holiday traditions may be easier than you think. This winter Epcot in Orlando is hosting a Holidays Around the World special event.

Characters, legends, fables and entertainment from around the globe will all be part of the experience and simply taking a tour around Epcot can bring you a deeper taste of global cultures and experiences than you ever thought possible. This is especially meaningful for children as they often fail to understand more than the customs they celebrate at home.

In addition to the global exhibits, Holidays around the World includes a candlelight processional and a grand finale - Reflections of Earth. The event features food, entertainment and fun in each of the locations featured in Epcot. The candlelight processional occurs nightly in the American Garden’s Theater.

The candlelight processional is more than simply a moving walk by candlelight. It includes a narrated nativity scene with accompaniment by a 50 piece orchestra and mass choir. The shows run three times a night at 5:00, 6:45 and 8:15. The nativity scene is narrated by a celebrity, and those celebrities vary by nights. The celebrity narrators include Stephen Curtis Chapman, Andie McDowell, Gary Sinise and many more.

At 9:30 every night, the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will begin. This is a tremendous light and music show with classic songs and a moving holiday message. Children and adults alike can enjoy lighting Mickey’s Christmas tree at 6pm while an assortment of holiday music plays.

Other exciting venues of the Holidays around the World include Holiday Storytellers explaining many of the legends unique to different corners of the globe. The Lights of Winter is a smaller light show that runs every evening, and holiday merchandise from around the globe is available at every turn. You can even reserve a special candlelight dinner package with reserved seating for that evening’s candlelight processional. Holidays around the World runs from November 23 - December 30, 2007.
