Hogwarts Castle Coming to Orlando

It is official. Construction has begun on the new Hogwarts Castle for the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter Theme Park at Universal Orlando, Florida. The castle is planned to be the main attraction for the entire Harry Potter area.

The theme park is the result of partnering between Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Universal Orlando Resort. The park will be an amazing environment centered on the bestselling books by J. K. Rowling. The new area will become part of Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Once the park is open, visitors can expect an awesome experience that will allow them to be immersed into the world of Harry Potter. The scenes will go beyond the Hogwarts Castle itself and include many other familiar places, including Hagrid’s cabin, the village of Hogsmeade, and the ever-so-strange Forbidden Forest. In addition, visitors will be able to visit with Harry’s friends and they will be delighted by the many other characters that will be on site. Not all of these are human, of course. One of the major attractions is an interactive area where visitors will be amazed as they become part of the Hogwarts experience.

In addition to the scenes there will also be many immersive rides and attractions. The new park will also offer some very unique gift shops and eateries. The eateries may be worth the visit itself as they plan to offer visitors a taste of what wizards eat everyday.

Stuart Craig, the Academy Award-winning production designer for the films of Harry Potter, has been deeply involved in the design of the area and he leads the creative design team. With his expertise and input the area will be as true to life as possible. Fans of the Potter books are sure to be pleased and thrilled at the same time.

For those who have been fans of the books, this is an experience that cannot be matched anywhere else on earth. As such it is a once in a lifetime experience and is sure to delight and thrill all who visit. The area is expected to open in late 2009 and will surely have a huge marketing blitz as opening time approaches.
