Free Family Activities in Orlando

Bringing the whole family on vacation can get expensive no matter where you take them. There’s no need to break the bank, however. There’s a lot to do in Orlando that won’t cost a dime and the kids will remember the trip for years to come.

Located on Lake Jessup, Black Hammock Adventures offers visitors a chance to watch trainers feed a 12-foot, 650-pound alligator named Hammy that makes its home here. You can see live alligator and bird exhibits, and listen to free live music on Friday and Saturday nights at the Lazy Gator Bar.

In conjunction with the Enzian Theatre, the City of Winter Park offers visitors a chance to hang out in Winter Park’s Central Park or Shady Park and see free movies. Called Winter Park Popcorn Flicks, the whole family can enjoy them each second Thursday of each month.

On the third Monday of each month there is free storytelling at the Harry P. Leu Gardens for young children. After the children enjoy their story go for a walk along the three miles of paved scenic walkways, check out the magnificent gardens. You’ll see an enchanting butterfly garden, a steamy tropical stream garden, and gardens of bamboo and palms.

Located in Downtown Disney Marketplace is a fun place where dinosaurs and a gigantic sea serpent made of Legos stands guard over a place where children come to play and create with colorful bricks. Watch your child’s jaw drop in awe as she looks up at the gargantuan keepers of the Lego Imagination Center, and enjoy the fact that it costs absolutely nothing. This 4,400-square-feet Lego play park will keep your little ones entertained for hours.

Even if you’re on a tight budget, there’s plenty to do in Orlando with the whole family that doesn’t cost anything. So pack up the kids and head on over.
