Forever Florida
Forever Florida is a 4700 acre wildlife conservation area where you can witness first-hand an array of ecosystems, including streams, forests, pastures and wetlands have been carefully preserved. It’s also home to some of Florida’s indigenous wildlife. Experience Florida the way nature intended it to be by taking one of Forever Florida’s safaris.
The oldest and truest way to experience the beauty of Florida is on horseback. In the early days of the first settlers, this was the only mode of transportation. Ride along historic trails that were first carved out by the indigenous Indian tribes during the 16th century. It truly is a rare glimpse at some of Florida’s natural ecosystems. If horses aren’t your thing, consider the Coach Safari.
Forever Florida’s two-hour Coach Safari will transport you deep into the conservation area. You’ll have the opportunity to witness Florida’s wildlife in their natural environment, including turtles, wild turkeys, and nearly 200 different species of birds. If horseback or coach doesn’t hold the exciting punch you’re looking for, then the new Zipline Safari sure will.
On the Zipline Safari you will witness Florida’s as you never have before. You’ll zip along a system of high-tension cables that get you from one platform to the next, all the while experiencing Florida’s breath-taking natural ecosystems. Sail overtop natural vegetation, whiz through Pine Flatwoods and over nature’s wetlands. And, the whole adventure begins with a short hike along the Florida Trail, one of only eight National Scenic Trails in the United States. If you’re finding it hard to leave this beautiful place, you might want to spend a night or two.
Choose from a number of different camp sights. A small scout camp that’s been used by the Girl Scout and Boy Scouts of America for 30 years, a remote, but no-so-primitive campground located far out in the wilderness that can accommodate individuals up to small groups, and six person cabins (due to open in late 2009) are just a few of the options.
The backwoods and wetlands of Florida are home to some of the most beautiful ecosystems in the world. Come for a visit to Florida Forever, and you’ll see what I mean.
