Disney on a Dime

Both children and adults dream of a Disney vacation. The magic of Disney is universal and the draw is irresistable to many families. Unfortunately, it can be a very expensive vacation. The costs associated with taking a full-fledged Disney vacation are prohibitive for many families, but there are ways around the high price items. It is possible to take the family to Disney World for less than you might think.

Rent a House
One of the most expensive parts of the Disney vacation is not the theme park tickets, it is the hotel stay. Even the least expensive Disney hotels can be too much for many families to even consider. Unfortunately, staying in a hotel also means you have somewhere to sleep, but not necessarily anything to eat.

Hotels offer beds, but not kitchens. This means you will be eating out in expensive restaurants or ordering room service for every meal. Parking at many hotels in the theme parks is paid as well. The bills can add up very quickly.

Instead of taking on the cost of a hotel and separate meals, save considerably by staying in an Orlando vacation home rental for the duration of your trip. Not only will everyone be more comfortable with adequate space, a kitchen will allow you to prepare inexpensive meals for the family. Rather than cramming the family into a single room or small suite, you can rest comfortably with more bedrooms, separate living rooms and possibly your own hot tub and swimming pool.

Renting a vacation home near Disney will put a much more comfortable roof over your head, avoid parking expenses and eliminate unnecessary meal expenses as well.

Buy in Advance
Waiting to buy theme park tickets at the gate will make things much more expensive than they need to be. Purchasing tickets online or even at a local store or retailier can offer savings. Purchasing tickets in advance will also help you to organize your trip and plan how much time you will spend at each theme park and what is most important at each.

Explore your Options
Amazingly there are some things in the Disney area that are free, or at least don’t require general admission. Take advantage of these locations in between trips to the larger parks. Many of them are just as interesting in their own way. Downtown Disney and the Disney Boardwalk are both full of interesting shops and restaurants. Take a stroll through either or both to get a bit more Disney without having to pay for admission.

There are also many other options in the Orlando area that are not Disney, but can offer a great family time. Spend a few days at the theme parks, and then drive over to the Atlantic coast for a day. The beaches are open to the public and the drive is shorter than you might imagine. Other activities in the area include other theme parks, golf, outlet malls and numerous water activities. Branch out and see what the whole Orlando area has to offer - it might just surprise you!
