All About Orlando

Do you love flowers? Are you a gardener or enjoy gazing at gardens? Do you just like to be in nature? Then a great way to spend one of your warm Florida days is in the Discovery Gardens of Lake City Horticulture Learning Center.

The gardens are a short trip, just north of the Orlando area. Make sure you pack your sunscreen, a hat, and your camera so you can fully enjoy this extraordinary natural wonder.

There are a variety of gardens and each one has a different theme. Some of the featured gardens include:

• Rose gardens that smell so sweet that you will want to stop, take time, and smell the roses for sure

• Vineyards that will make you feel like you have been transported to wine country

• Wetlands that are indigenous to Central Florida

• Kitchen gardens that will spark your inner chef

• Southwest gardens that will transport you to this different area

• Spanish gardens will make you want to get lost in the moss so you can enjoy it a little longer

• Butterfly gardens - you can count all of the types of butterflies that are attracted to the flora and perhaps have one land on you
• Children’s gardens which includes a maze that will be an adventure to get out of and leaves you with the desire to get lost again

This is just a small sample of gardens that you can take the day and enjoy. This is a destination for the young and old. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Each day there are classes and demonstrations that you can take part in. Be sure to check out what is going on and book any needed reservations so you don’t miss out on these hands on classes. Most of these classes are free or require a nominal registration fee.

You do not need to rush through these gardens but take the day and wander through each. Sit under a shade tree, close your eyes, listen to the sounds around, and get lost in a beautiful Central Florida day.
