While not technically in the Orlando area, Kennedy Space Center is a great side trip to take during a stay in central Florida. It’s less than an hour drive from Orlando and offers visitors an inside look into the world of astronauts and space travel.

Space Shuttle Your first stop should be at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where visitors can choose from several tours of NASA’s launch and landing facilities, live action shows, and even experience a briefing with an actual NASA astronaut.

Another stop that shouldn’t be missed is the Astronaut Hall of Fame, where visitors can experience interactive simulators and check out NASA memorabilia up close.

Of course, the best time to visit the Kennedy Space Center is around the time of a shuttle launch. Witnessing a launch is an experience that space enthusiasts, young and old, will remember for a lifetime. It is sure to be one of the most memorable moments of your Florida getaway.
