A New Theme Park for Orlando?

Rumors have been flying that there may be another fantastic theme park in the works from Disney. As of this writing, Disney has neither confirmed, nor denied, the reports that are on many internet blogs concerning a new theme park that would hold just 2,000 people at a time and be built near Pleasure Island.

Jim Hill Media has reported that Disney would open its new park, called Disney’s Night Kingdom, in the fall of 2011, and that the new project would cost nearly $520 million.

Unlike other theme parks, the new one would only be open from 4 p.m. to midnight and the park would not offer more traditional rides, but instead have attractions like rock-climbing, zip-lining and a safari tour that would require the use of night-vision goggles.

Rick Foglesong, author of the critical book “Married to the Mouse”, told Central Florida News 13, a local news station, that an adult-type theme park would be an excellent way to convince more adults to spend their money at Disney.

“In essence, what it does is to bring back people who came as kids, but to bring them back as young adults, but to bring them back with adult experiences,”‘ Fogelsong said.

The Internet blogs claimed the new park would not come cheap. Reports put cost of admission around $300, but this has not been confirmed.

Visitors to Orlando will want to keep their eye on this one as it may pan out to be one of the most exciting destinations for adults who want to enjoy theme parks with a grown up twist. Timely information on this theme park will have to be searched for during the next year or so. It is expected that if the plans come to fruition that Disney will make the news public in their own thrilling way.

In the meantime, the new Aquatica theme park is now open to the public and is getting some rave reviews.
